RULES FOR 1/72 SCALE WARGAMING

 Notes for Wermacht Players

ORDERS

Troops are categorised as Flexible or Inflexible in their operational style.

No Poor or Inexperienced troops can be Flexible.

Five orders are possible: ATTACK, DEFEND,SCOUT,ADVANCE,COUNTERATTACK

Each order allows the unit to act within limits and depending upon its operational style.

FLEXIBLE TROOPS

ATTACK DEFEND SCOUT ADVANCE COUNTERATTACK
Move unless stopped for shooting. Must have a location to sieze.Once on objective need not move. Can move within defences or outside if not towards enemy. Must advance until a new enemy element is observed then defend or scout. Repeat when no enemy visible. Advance at least half move per turn towards an exit point on enemy baseline. If enemy appear orders become ATTACK. Cannot move until enemy on objective and then orders become ATTACK.

INFLEXIBLE TROOPS

ATTACK DEFEND SCOUT ADVANCE COUNTERATTACK
Move at least 1/2 move towards objective each turn. Once on objective DEFEND. Can move within positions. Must advance until a new enemy element is observed then defend. Repeat when no viable enemy visible. Advance at least half move per turn towards an exit on enemy baseline. If enemy seen change orders to DEFEND. Cannot move until enemy on objective and then orders become ATTACK.

GUNS: will normally have DEFEND orders.

Orders are given to companies and higher organisations.

Only one of each of the organisation's sub-units can have a different order from the others.

Orders can be changed by a higher level HQ but only as a result of:

                        Command and Control Test

After an objective has been won or lost

Third turn  with no enemy visible and no incoming fire
